FOR the past five years, Woolworths has been whetting the appetites of Kampala’s most fashion-savvy shoppers. And on Friday night, the company thanked its loyal customers who have supported themsince they opened in Uganda in 2002. The celebrations were held at their store, at Garden City in Kampala.

Since Christmas is close at hand Woolworths took this as an opportunity to celebrate the beginning of the festive season with their customers. The company also donated clothes worth sh18m to Katalemwa Cheshire Home of Disabled Children as their corporate social responsibility.

And, while many companies choose to credit their marketers for the companies’ success, Woolworths recognised their customers. Twenty five people (who are not necessarily the biggest spenders on the company’s products but are rather ‘passionate about the products’) received gift hampers. The late DJ Bangi was also posthumously recognised for his passion for Woolworths products.

Sanyu FM’s Angela Kalule was the perfect entertainer of the night, since her drowsy blues tunes could suit well the audience that comprised of personalities like Vision Group chief executive, Robert Kabushenga, Uganda Investment Authority executive director, Maggie Kigozi, as well as Woolworths regional chief, Ali Mufuruki.
