YOU might be the next sought-after musician emerging from DStv’s new season of the popular musical show, Idols Africa.

Taking a trek of seven African countries, including Uganda, Idols Africa has been launched to grace television audiences around Africa in the New Year, 2008.
Beginning January, anyone between the age of 18 and 27 can apply to take part in the show, whose search will head to Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

In each country, Idols will hold a make-or-break audition where singers, who have never recorded any song, will have their shot at becoming superstars and winning an international recording contract.

The new season is also open to citizens of Burundi, Comoros, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Lesotho, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Reunion, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia and Swaziland. They can audition at any of the seven audition countries.

M-Net recently completed Idols in West Africa, while Season Four of Idols South Africa is nearing its end.
Launching the new season recently, Multichoice Uganda publicist, Helena Mayanja, said the show aims at tapping into the musical talent of east and southern Africa, while celebrating home-grown stars.

Idols has produced renowned stars like Grammy Award-winning Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia and Timi Dakolo.

Audition dates and venues can be accessed on www.mnetafrica.com.
