AQUA Sipi Mineral Water and Kyeko energy drink, have been certified with the ISO 22000:2005 quality mark. The two products are made by the Mukwano Group of Companies.

The food safety management accreditation by Quality Austria, a member of the International Certification Network, passes the two products for the export market.

“This certification will encourage us to boost production to meet our customers’ needs in the country, regionally and internationally,” said Mukwano’s Sangem Abdul.

“It has always been our dream to market our products on the international market. We are placed in a position of intensified customer focus, process approach within the company and cost savings,” said Tony Gadhoke Mukwano’s Chief Executive officer.

Gadhoke who addressed a press conference at their factory located in 8th street said; “we are proud that we are the first Ugandan company making bottled water to get this international certification. We felt bad when no Ugandan firm was allowed to supply water during the CHOGM.”

Bottled water consumed during the Common Wealth Health of Government Summit held in Uganda in 2007 was imported since none of the companies here met the required international standard.

Ponny Ndondwe the Quality systems manager said the food management system is based international standards.

“Our products can now be sold in any supermarkets abroad,” he said.
Shiva Pandey the Beverages manager said the achievement is a genuine reward to Mukwano clients.
