NATIONAL Sevens rugby champions MTN Heathens are determined to overwhelm G4S Pirates in the Toyota-Buffaloes Sevens Circuit at Kyadondo rugby ground today.

Pirates have often proved a threat to Heathens in the Sevens circuits and they look forward to reproduce another tough test against their rivals in the weekend event.

Pirates Sevens Coach, Bobby Musinguzi stated: “We are ready to compete and we will use young upcoming players that will help us build a strong sevens asides.”

Musinguzi’s side will also take on Hima Impis and the Rugby Crane Sevens team that is preparing for the Kenya Safari Sevens in Nairobi on June 20.

utl Kobs will engage Entebbe Mongers, Nile Lions and hosts Toyota Buffaloes in pool B.

According to the rugby development manager Ramsey Olinga, the top two teams from each pool will qualify to the main cup semi-final while the other teams will qualify for the Plate semi-final.

Olinga added that the increase of the 7’s circuits will help the development of Sevens rugby in the country.

Toyota Uganda has sponsored the tournament to a tune of sh10m with sh4m set aside for the players’ prizes.
