RUGBY Cranes flanker Robert Seguya may find himself shifted to the scrumhalf role when the national squad is named on Monday.
The Cranes coach, Chester Williams, has intimated that the player, who was called to the national squad as a flanker, may offer more to the team as a scrumhalf.
Williams suggested the idea to assistant tactician Yayiro Kasasa and first team coach Ham Osandu after Monday’s training session at Kampala Rugby Club.
If the plan is eventually upheld, it will mark the second time that Williams has changed the MTN-Heathens star player’s position on the national team. The South African gave Seguya the same role when he was coach back in 2006-07 and clearly the tactician still believes the veteran player would give Uganda something which no other player can.
As it stands, G4S Pirates club-mates Anthony Kinene and Philip Karuma are the team’s first choice scrumhalfs but Seguya’s greater experience may ultimately prove decisive in swaying Williams mind.
Uganda face Tunisia in a home-and-away Confederation of African Rugby World Cup qualification tie next month.
