EDITOR—Recently, I went to the CID headquarters at Kibuli and spent there a long time waiting for some officers. At lunchtime, I went to an eatery within the barracks. No sooner had I begun eating than a man came smoking a cigarette and stood near the food joint with the smoke wafting into the room.

When I asked the waiters to ask him to move a distance away, i was told they could not tell him because he was a policeman! Embarrassed by such an unreasonable response, I moved out and asked him to move away. Alas!

He proved that he had authority without character. He arrogantly told me that he would not move away and did not care how uncomfortable the smoke caused the people around.

He continued smoking! I would like to inform him that police officers are expected to be exemplary. Besides, smoking in public is not only disrespectful but also unlawful. Next time, ‘Great Afande’, have some manners.
