St. Aloysius College Nyapea Old Boys in Nebbi district have vowed to work together to ensure that the school regains its former glory. The former students, who held a reunion at the college on Saturday, decried the poor academic performance and dilapidated infrastructure at the school.
They accused the Government and former administrators of neglect and poor administration. The headmaster, Bosco Opio, said the school had never had major repairs since it was founded in 1938. He disclosed that the enrolment had dropped from about 700 students ten years ago, to about 300 today.
Opio cited the improvement of infrastructure, acquicision of a stable energy source, establishment of an information and communications technology centre and means transport as the immediate needs to revive the school’s standards.
He called upon the Old Boys to lobby for funds to reconstruct the school in all forums. The district community development officer, Julius Amule, who presided over the function, encouraged the S4 and S6 candidates to work hard re-ignite academic excellence.
