HOUSING Finance Bank has launched a branch in Mbale to increase its visibility and competitiveness.

Housing state minister Michael Werikhe opened the branch recently at Mbale Municipality.

The managing director, Nicholas Okwir, said: “Today, we witness the fulfillment of one of the bank’s goals of opening branches throughout the country. This will be our second upcountry branch after Mbarara, bringing the number to seven. We hope to open four more branches before the end of the year with one in Arua scheduled to be opened next month.”

“We have provided mortgage finance in all parts of the country for 41 years. Our focus has been on affordable financing options for decent homes,” he added.

Okwir said the bank had also developed new and flexible mortgage financial options, which cater for all classes of people at varying repayment periods of up to 20 years.

“Management has embarked on spreading our branch network to 35 branches across the country over the next five years. We also promise to introduce delivery channels like mobile phone and Internet banking that will enable us reach more people,” he added.
