THE Police have arrested three workers of the Commonwealth Resort Munyonyo in connection with the weekend burglary.

Hannington Ecoloi, Isaac Kawere and Charles Moody were arrested from their homes and detained at Kabalagala Police station.

Police spokesperson Judith Nabakooba yesterday said the trio was being questioned regarding the break-in that left a guest’s computer, vital documents, a TV set and other electrical appliances missing.

Nabakooba said: “We are studying the hotel cameras for more information.”

Meanwhile, a man identified as Ibrahim Ssesali and a special hire driver, identified as Tushabe, have been arrested in connection with the theft of 50 computers at Kanyogoga, Bukasa in Kampala over the weekend. The computers belonged to Edith Kabawule, a business woman in Kampala.

Nabakooba also said three other suspects, Mugisha, Wapande and Kassaga are being held in connection with the theft of goods worth sh25m at the Oasis Nakumatt Shopping Mall.

She said the trio tricked the management of Nakumatt that trade minister, Maj. Gen. Kahinda OtafiIre, had instructed them to pick different merchandise for his shop.

“They picked eight refrigerators, 10 TV sets, 110 DVDs, mattresses and other unspecified electrical appliances.”

“They left a Stanbic cheque in the names of Otafiire,” explained Nababooka.

She said the management learnt of the scam after they banked the cheque and it bounced.
