Singa nze Museveni nnali fuze nga nawe muntebe…(If I was President Yoweri Museveni, we would rule this country together), were the words that amused Museveni, who sat with his wife Janet.

Museveni then beckoned Bobi Wine who was singing his popular song Singa, to come over to him and everyone thought Museveni was going to sound a thorough warning to the self-proclaimed “president” of the “Ghetto Republic of Uganja.”

The singer promptly cut his performance short and humbly walked to the first family. Museveni told him: “That is a good song. I like it. Keep it up,” amid laughters from guests.

The two had actually never met in person until a few weeks ago during the kuhingira (give-away ceremony) of higher education minister, Mwesigwa Rukutana’s daughter, Maureen Katushabe to Uthman Mayanja, son of former Attorney General, Abu Mayanja.

The ceremony that took place at Rukutana’s country home in Rugonji village, Rushenyi in Ntungamo district drew several high-profile guests that included President Museveni.

Bobi Wine, who is a personal friend to Rukutana, was invited with his Firebase Crew to entertain guests. One of Rukutana’s five wives happens to be a cousin to Bobi’s wife, Barbie Itungo.

Well Bobi, looks like big things are in line for you, come 2011.
