OUR very own girl, Esther Nabaasa won the second season of the music talent search Tusker Project Fame (TPF) in Nairobi last year. Which East African country will claim it now, considering that Rwanda is also on board?

Launched at Alleygators in Kampala last Wednesday, TPF3 promises to be thrilling, what with the sh125m prize money?

Nabasa was in great form as she belted a song off her debut album Rock in a Country Soul. Audition forms can be got from UBC TV in Kampala, Radio West, Vision FM in Mbarara, Open Gate in Mbale, Unity FM in Lira, Arua One FM in Arua, NBS FM in Jinja, Mega FM in Gulu, Spice FM in Hoima, Garden City, Game Store, Quality Supermarket Ntinda, Quality Supermarket Lubowa, Nakumatt Oasis Mall and Capital Shoppers.

This year’s theme hinges on ‘Letting People Decide’. Maria Kiwanuka and Timothy Bukumunhe voted Kenny of UBC as winner of the media sing-along contest.

New Vision’s Alex Balimwikungu came in a surprise second, thanks to his take on Whitney Houston’s Greatest Love of All.

Jane Kasumba of UBC did Man in the Mirror and even involved the crowd. She was fair though, compared to Sanyu FM’s Edwin Mamuto, who did injustice to We are the World to claim fourth position.

The media event was in part a “brief launch” of the 500ml none-malt Tusker Lager targeting males with an urban attitude.

TPF3 auditions took place at UBC TV on Saturday and Sunday.
