All is set for Nile pool finals at Sabrinas

THE finals of the Nile Special Pool championships will be spiced up with a celebrity event of top artistes and radio presenters.

THE finals of the Nile Special Pool championships will be spiced up with a celebrity event of top artistes and radio presenters.

The events start at 9.00am with the draws and ends at midnight at Sabrina’s Pub on Saturday.

Arthur Sekiziyivu, the event organiser said that to create a level-playing field, the 120 players who went through the qualifiers, and the eight top seeds will all go in the same draw with all finalists picking their opponents from a draw at every stage up to the quarter-finals.

“Players will compete in a best-of-three format from the preliminaries up to the round of 32, after which games will increase at every stage. The final will be decided from the best of 13 games,’’ Sekiziyivu said.

Nile Special brand manager Timothy Kayondo promised an even bigger tournament in the years to come.

Uganda Pool Association chairman Godfrey Mabiriizi noted that the tournament presents an opportunity for upcountry players to break through and be seeded for consideration for international events.

A top cash prize of sh1.5m, a pool table worth sh3.5m and a trophy awaits the overall winner. Another pool table valued at the same amount will be provided at his favourite bar.
