BRUSSELS Airlines has announced a partnership with Lufthansa on the Entebbe- Brussels route.

“The partnership will allow Lufthansa passengers coming from Entebbe to travel onwards to their European destinations in a time-efficient manner with smooth connections in Brussels,” Pierre Declerk, the carrier’s country manager, told a press conference at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel on Tuesday.

Declerk disclosed that the deal was arrived at after Lufthansa, a German carrier, took over a 45% stake in Brussels Airlines last month with an option to buy the remaining 55%.

He said the two airlines intended to increase their collaboration in the African market by establishing code-sharing agreements on a range of African destinations.

“Thanks to this collaboration, passengers of Brussels Airlines will be able to travel to more African destinations, while members may collect and spend miles on all flights,” Declerk said.

He said plans for the airline to enter into the star alliance arrangement were in high gear.
