SC Villa have sealed a $40,000 (sh84m) deal and received part payment of $18,000 (sh37m) for winger Steven Bengo moving to Tanzanian champions Yanga FC.

Villa secretary Luyimbazi Mugalu confirmed yesterday that Bengo had signed for Yanga pending the club’s financial obligation of $22,000 to the Jogoos.

Mwanainchi
newspaper, a Swahili daily in Tanzania also confirmed the deal saying that Bengo bagged $15000 (sh31.5m) sign-on fee for the three-year deal.

Luyimbazi insisted that the player would not feature for both sides when they clash in a friendly match in Dar es Salam on August 8.
“We got part payment for him (Bengo) but we have not yet released him because the agreement says that he will go after the last installment,” Luyimbazi said yesterday.

But Bengo left for Tanzania immediately after scoring a brace in Uganda Cranes 4-1 win over Alem Brazil over the weekend and is training with Yanga.

Villa is due to leave for Dar es Salam by road next Friday where they will play Yanga and Simba on invitation of the Tanzanian clubs.

If the move is completed Bengo will be the third Ugandan player after Dan Wagaluka (Azam FC) and Emma Okwi (Simba) to join the Tanzanian league in the last one year.

Bengo joined the Villa senior side from the Jogoos junior team, Jogoo Young.

Champions Yanga open the 2009/10 premier league campaign against newly promoted African Lyon on August 23.
Former Villa striker Okwi crossed to Simba early this month at reportedly sh4m.

Meanwhile Villa will play Kagera FC, another Tanzanian side, in a friendly match at Nakivubo tomorrow. Kagera, expected to arrive today, will also play two other matches with yet to be identified Ugandan clubs during their pre-season tour of the country.
