WHEN David Obua succeeded in helping Hearts FC secure a place in the Europa league last season, he stressed that his chief objective would be leaving a mark in Europe's second most lucrative club competition.

Obua, who has never played in a major European competition before, finally gets the chance to fulfil that objective in Hearts’ first European assignment against Croatian giants Dinamo Zagreb in Zagreb today.

Obua’s performances in pre-season, that included a wonder goal against Sunderland, exemplified the kind of domineering form that attracted so much attention during his stay in South Africa.

He was Hearts best performer in the 2-0 Scottish Premier League defeat to Dundee United, and that is enough reason Hearts’ and former Cranes boss Laszlo Csaba will turn to him for inspiration regardless of where he starts.

“I can play in so many positions but of course I need one position that I can grab and say this is my position but let’s see what happens,” said Obua.

Meanwhile, Brian Umony finally made his debut at SuperSport during the club’s 1-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs on Tuesday.
