MUSLIM female students should dress decently to attain respect the Islamic University in Uganda Kabojja campus director has said.

“Dress decently and you will be treated with respect and honour. Rapists will also fear to approach you,” Dr. Halimah Akbar, said.

She was speaking at a three-day conference for female Muslims at Kinaawa High School in Kampala.

Akbar told the students to aim high in their education and to be role models, adding that it would enable them eliminate inequality between men and women.

She said the Government promoted girl-child education and urged them to take advantage of the opportunity.

The university rector, Dr. Ahamed Ssengendo, urged the students to promote peace.

“Seek peace at all times, but remember to exercise your right to self-defence should the situation demand so,” Ssengendo told the conference participants.

“The courage needed to make peace can be greater than that needed to make
war,” he added.

Ssengendo commended the Female Muslim Students’ Federation for the cooperation and unity among its members.

He said unity and weighing decisions before acting were vital in a global world, adding that conflicts in such a world were inevitable.

“Decide what to focus on no matter how difficulty that might be. Life is full of decisions.

Even to do nothing is a decision,” he said.

The conference attracted students from Muslim-founded schools and institutions.
