My brother Peter, who is 10 years old, is in boarding school at Naalya Hillside Primary in Kampala. Recently, I travelled with my dad to Austria for a holiday which I will never forget.
The aeroplane we used from Entebbe Airport was very big. My seat, which was near the window, was number 88. When the plane was in the air, I could see the whole of Kampala. Then I started to see only white clouds.
We arrived at Brussels Airport and bought some chocolate. They also weighed me then we took a smaller plane to Austria.
When we arrived, I got out of the plane and cold wind blew my face and made me shiver. We went to my cousin, Big Peter’s home, where I ate sausages and played video games.
My aunt Traude took me to a place called Stainach. We found my uncle, Heli, who was happy to see me. We stayed at his home.
In the morning, I watched cartoons but they spoke in German. I learnt that “Guten morgen†means good morning in German.
When I got out of the house, there was snow everywhere. The whole compound was white. I put some snow in my mouth and found that it tastes just like ice from the fridge. Then I made a snow man and a snow house, but they melted when the sun came up.
I went to the children’s playground with my cousins Mona Lisa who is 10 years and Catherine who is 11. I also rode Mona Lisa’s scooter. One day I rode very fast and I fell but did not get hurt. Another day, Catherine and I got trapped in the cellar. Then we saw steps leading to a door which we climbed and got out.
We also played football in real football grounds like the ones on TV. I also visited Vienna town, where my uncle Rudi and aunt Sofie live. While there, we went to a very big children’s park. There was a ghost house where I saw a real ghost with blue eyes. I also saw bats flying around in the darkness.
I drove a small tractor. The best part was the viking ships that go up and down. I stayed in Austria for four weeks and then went to Germany, where I saw a big playground like Didi’s World. I missed a ride on the roller-coaster because when we got to the line, it was closing time. On our journey back home, we ate food at the airport and boarded Brussels airlines. They had nice food and cold water on the plane. I enjoyed myself.
