THE decision to expel Nalubaale FC from the super league will not be reversed, soccer governing body FUFA said yesterday. All that remains to be decided according to FUFA is if the club will still be eligible to compete in any of the lower divisions.

FUFA expelled Nalubaale for failure to meet contractual obligations as per rules governing the clubs.

“If they were suspended from the top flight for not being able to observe their contractual obligations, I wonder whether they will be allowed in the lower divisions. But that is an executive decision and we will wait for it,” explained competitions committee secretary Moses Magogo.

About FUFA’s earlier decision to allow the club merge with Proline Academy, Magogo said that was a mistake they were trying to rectify. He quoted an article in the FIFA constitution which is against a club altering its legal or company structure in order to facilitate its promotion to a domestic championship.

“We accept there were mistakes that were made, but should we allow another wrong because one wrong was done sometime back?” asked Magogo.

r THE battle for next year’s FIFA badges has attracted 25 names, but without assistant referee Ali Tomusange, who bows out of action at the end of this year. Tomusange will pass the mandatory 45 years of an active refereeing in December.

The FUFA referees’ standing committee yesterday released names for the test to be supervised by CAF instructors from outside Uganda.

All referees nominated for the super league will first undergo a test on September 5 at Namboole before those vying for FIFA badges return ten days later. The first test will attract 90 referees.
