Horizon Coaches, a bus transport firm, has opened a multi-million bus terminal to revamp business opportunities.
The sh1.6b terminal located on Berkley Street, off Namirembe Road in Kampala.
“The modern terminal has 45 self-contained rooms, a bar and restaurant and a table tennis court, Fred Tumwine, the general manager, explained.
He said they shifted from the Baganda Bus Park in downtown Kampala because it was congested. “Properties of passengers would be stolen with nobody answerable.â€
“We are now able to offer customers better services and value for money,†Tumwine said.
Horizon is owned by city tycoon and former African Rally Champion, Charles Muhangi.
The firm, which plies various routes out of Kampala, has also acquired 22 new buses.
Muhangi said he had phased out old buses and challenged other bus operators to follow suit to reduce accidents.
