ACTING Inspector General of Government, Raphael Baku, has ordered the dismissal of Lyantonde district service commissioners over incompetence.
In the August 9 letter to the chief finance officer, Baku asked the district executive committee to sack the entire district service commission.
The commission is headed by Hajj Edris Mutaasa. The letter stated, “The Lyantonde district executive committee, should, in consultation with the public service commission, recommend the firing of the entire district service commission. New members should be recommended to the district council for appointment.â€
Baku noted that a number of interviews carried out by the commission were marred with massive irregularities.
He ordered that all posts declared by the ministry of local government be readvertised with the correct personnel qualifications.
The posts to be readvertised are district education officer, district planner, principal internal auditor, principal personnel officer, district natural resources officer, chief finance officer and the district engineer.
“The acting secretary to the district service commission, Winnie Akorebirungi, should stand down and revert to her duties as personnel officer because she is unqualified,†the IGG stated in the letter.
Baku also said Teddy Namata, the copy typist for the chief finance officer, was recruited on forged academic qualifications.
She should be investigated and prosecuted over forgery. Baku made the recommendations after investigating complaints about irregularities in the recruitment process for posts advertised by the local Government ministry in 2007.
This was the first recruitment of employees for Lyantonde district, which was curved out of Rakai district in 2006.
