UGANDAN boxers in the diaspora have backed Uganda Amateur Boxing Federation presidential candidate Godfrey Nyakana, saying he is the rightful candidate for the post.

“He is the anointed one to bring back the lost glory. We will back him,” Eddie Bazira, promoter and director of Pro Box Scandinavia said.

Nyakana, a Commonwealth games gold medal winner in 1990, will battle for the vacant UABF leadership with former Express chairman Julius Kavuma Kabenge and Kyadondo South Member of Parliament Issa Kikungwe in today’s elective general assembly at Lugogo.

The post fell vacant after former boss Rogers Ddungu became Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) president.
