RUGBY Cranes coach Yayiro Kasasa has every reason to wear a brave face in the face of a daunting challenge to reclaim the Elgon Cup from Kenya at Kyadondo Rugby Club today.

Kasasa, who shoulders the task of closing an eight-point deficit following a 30-22 defeat in Nairobi two weeks ago will be up against a re-energized Kenya outfit. Uganda won the Elgon Cup in 2006.

Kenya coach Mike Otieno has drafted in sevens stars Humphrey Kayange and Collins Injera but Kasasa is not shaken.

“We have already got our game plan that the players seem to be ready to effect on the pitch. If the players do what we have planned, I have no doubt we shall lift this trophy at home,” Kasasa remarked.

Kasasa was impressed with the morale in camp.

“The players are in a good mood and confident that they will lift the trophy,” Kasasa added.

Veteran Robert Seguya, who scored two tries in Nairobi, promised to touch down again and downplayed the Kayange threat.

“Who is Kayange? We have punished them several times with their full squad and I don’t want to hear about their professionals. What I want is to put them down and lift this trophy,” Seguya charged.

With Joel Kimuli ruled out by an injury, the Ugandans will have to rely on kickers Anthony Kinene and Joel Anguyo, set to come off the bench.

The game has been sponsored by Harshi Energy, UAP Insurance, Western Union, DFCU Bank, Toyota Uganda, Nile Special Lager, Broadband Company, New Vision Group, G4S and Moringa Oglvy that have managed the event and its public relations.
