The last game of round one in the ongoing Bushenyi district women football league saw defending champions and western region cup holders Kyabugimbi WFC wallop their neighbours Nyakabanga 8-0 on Sunday to keep their top spot. Star striker Monica Busesire grabbed four to take her tally to nine while Winnie Mukanga got a brace.

71-yr great still brave enough
- Australian swimming great Dawn Fraser fought off an intruder at her home at the weekend, the 71-year-old, four-times Olympic gold medallist told local television on Monday. Fraser, who won four gold and four silver medals during the Melbourne, Rome and Tokyo Games (1956-64), including three consecutive golds in the 100m freestyle, said she got “annoyed” when the attacker threatened to kill her.

Muwulize Cup in round two
- Kikawuula will kick off the second round fixtures of Muwulize Cup when they host Kabanga at Lugazi East on September 3. Twelve of the 23 teams that originally entered the tournament are battling in four groups with the top two in each going to the quarterfinals. The tournament is sponsored by Buikwe West MP Ibrahim Norman Muwulize.
