FORMER Amuka militias in Lango sub-region, who were recruited into the Uganda police force, are to undergo police training. They will be trained in law enforcement, crime prevention and detection. This would improve their skills in handling crime and security.

The political commissar of the Police Force, Asan Kasingye said, the officers deployed at the sub-county headquarters and outposts had not got adequate training.

He added that the training is part of the government strategies to professionalise the forces but not to train the National Resistant Movement (NRM) agents for the 2011 elections as may be misunderstood by a section of the community.

The officer in charge Lira central police station, Patrick Mawerere appealed to the SPCs to make the best of this opportunity to get skills in deviating crime activities from the society.
