What was your first job? Where and when was it? How much did you earn then?
My first job was teaching biology and home management at Mount St. Mary’s Namangunga Girls in 1986. I used to earn sh80,000 per month, but when it was devalued after the National Resistance Movement took over power I was getting about sh8,000.

What is the most enduring memory of your first job?

It happened that when I was waiting to get my appointment letter the person I was seated with later become my friend and husband.

What did you learn from it that makes you a better boss?

I learnt it is important for the boss to communicate with all the employees because it makes them comfortable and dedicated. I also learnt that if one has a vision then they should not mind about how much they earn, but making a good CV. Our boss was a lady and this encouraged me to aspire for leadership positions.

Has the first job changed your career path or perspective of life?
It changed my perspective of life and work ethic. As a teacher I learnt that working with dedication, doing quality work and relating well with people makes one a better person. The team spirit at Namagunga also inspired me to start my own school basing on the same principles, especially providing quality service fearing God.
