SHERATON Kampala Hotel has guaranteed the successful hosting of next week’s Kampala tennis F1 Futures circuit at Lugogo by pledging $15,000 (sh29.4m) in support to the Uganda tennis governing body ULTA, reports Phillip Corry.

“We are pleased to be partners with ULTA and its only fitting for us to be sponsoring this international tournament,” Jawaid Akhtar, the general manager of the hotel said as he unveiled the sponsorship in Kampala yesterday.

“The futures tournament is an important event and we would like to wish the ULTA team and players success.”

“This is the third year that Sheraton have been our partners and we are really grateful for their support in our five year relationship that has grown stronger every time,” John Nagenda, the ULTA boss said.

“We plan to host the Davis Cup next year and we are hoping our friends Sheraton will support us.”

The Kampala leg of the circuit, the third of the East African tour, will be held September 21-27. The tour concludes in Nairobi.

Ugandan ace player Duncan Mugabe is ranked number nine for the Kampala leg.

He is currently competing in the Rwanda F1 Futures where he won his first round game yesterday, and plays in the second round today.
