THE Ndejje Angels go into today’s MTN-FUBA men’s basketball first division match with the Mountain Dew Falcons as underdogs but as Walker Obedi’s troops showed last week, that may be a misleading label.

The Angels went into their last league assignment against the Kyambogo Warriors in the same position and at the time it was difficult to see Obedi’s side compete.

But by the end of the match, the Warriors were breathing a sigh of relief because Ndejje had come very close to pulling off a major upset before eventually losing out 77-74.

That game was a reminder of Ndejje’s continuous improvement under Obedi and a notice to the rest that the Angels need not be taken for granted.

It is something the Falcons will do well to keep in mind, even if they are expected to leave YMCA as the victors.

Obedi maintains the key for his young side against such giants is belief.

“They must have belief,” he said last week. “My players must be mentally strong.”
