Govt urged on orphans
THE management of Sanyu Babies Home in Mengo has appealed to the Government to set up a fund to cater for the increasing number of abandoned children. Barbara Nankya, the administrator, said the fund would promote the expansion of the existing centres and creation of new ones. Nankya made the appeal on Thursday, while receiving a donation worth sh15m from Tropical Bank. Handing over the items, the bank’s board secretary, Addah Wegulo, said it was the bank’s policy to help out in areas that promote human development.

Guard hunted over theft
The Police are hunting for a security guard in connection with the robbery of sh1m from Petro City, a filling station in Bunga. Addressing journalists at the Central Police Station on Thursday, Kampala Metropolitan deputy Police spokesperson Henry Kalulu said the guard allegedly robbed the pump attendants at gunpoint and fled. The three attendants later alerted the Police, which recovered an abandoned rifle with four bullets 50 meters from the scene. Kalulu also said the Police were holding another guard for shooting two suspected robbers at Mbuya.
