THE High Court has dismissed the Rukungiri Woman MP’s case against the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) and the Director of Criminal Investigation.

Winnie Masiko had dragged the DPP and CID director to court seeking to block them from prosecuting her over the loss of sh130m given to her NGO by the Global Fund to fight HIV/AIDS.

Masiko said she had never received money from the NGO, known as Rugada, which was based in Rukungiri. She was the executive director.

Masiko argued that the charges of embezzlement against her were wrong since Rugada, the owner of the money, had not complained.
She said the charges were intended to humiliate her as an MP.

Justice Musoke Kibuuka rejected her arguments, saying both the DPP and the CID cannot be sued.

Masiko is jointly charged with Perez Tumwine Rwabushaija, Boaz Tumuhimbise and Andrew Musiime. They were first charged on October 29, 2008 at Buganda road Court.

The case comes up again on October 7.
