UGANDA’S Blu3 made it to the glittering list of performers for the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) with Zain tomorrow, when the second edition of the awards is held at the Indoor Arena, Moi International Sports Centre in Nairobi, Kenya.

The invitation came, courtsey of their latest hit song Fly, whose video recently charted at number three on MTV Base. They will perform alongside international hip hop legend, Wyclef Jean and Senegalese R&B sensation, Akon.

Other performers include South African Afro Soul goddess, Lira; Best New Act nominee, M.I. (Nigeria); Ghanaian star, Samini; Kenyan female sensation, Wahu; Lizha James from Mozambique; South Africa’s Da L.E.S; Tanzanian rapper, AY; and Congolese soukous king, Fally Ipupa.

Blu3, who are nominated for the Best Group and Best Performer accolades in the Zain-sponsored awards, will have to shove off competition from serious contenders like Nigerian duo P-Square, Kenya’s Nameless, Gang of Instrumentals from South Africa and Mo Hits All-Stars from Nigeria to win Uganda’s first MAMA Award.

Also representing Uganda at Africa’s biggest musical night will be XOD and Bobi Wine, who are pitted against each other in the Best Video category.

XOD is nominated for I Want You Back while Wine is nominated for his collaboration with Kenya’s Wahu on Little Things You Do. The other artistes running for this accolade are 2Face (Enter The Place) and South Africans HHP (Mpitse) and Da L.E.S. (We on Fire).

Tomorrow’s show will air live on African pay-TV channel MTV Base (DStv Channel 322) and to about one billion viewers via DStv MTV partner networks and African terrestrial channels including Uganda’s WBS TV.
