EDITOR—I recently visited Singapore and was very impressed by the high level of cleanliness and seriousness in the country.

Our local tour guide, Johnson Tan described Singapore as a country of fines. Littering the streets and jay-walking are fined.

Our leaders should borrow a leaf from clean countries like Singapore. It seems when some of them travel abroad, they waste a lot of precious time on expensive things and hope to satisfy their own insatiable desires.

As a result, they fail to learn or to identify useful measures to improve the situation in their own country.
