40% of children not immunised
IGANGA - Many children under five years of age have not been immunised. On Tuesday, the district health officer, Dr. David Muwanguzi, said recent research showed almost 40% of children missed the routine immunisation against the six killer diseases. They are measles, whooping cough, tetanus, polio and tuberculosis. He attributed the laxity to unfounded beliefs that associate immunisation with some illnesses in children. Muwanguzi reassured parents that the drugs are safe and urged parents to take their children to the nearest health centres for immunisation.
