HOCKEY - Wanainchi hockey team has been crowned seven-a-side gala champions after walloping Stallion 5-0 at Lugogo on Sunday. Wanainchi skipper Derrick Akua led the rout with three early goals before Thomas Opio sealed the teams victory with two more. The one day gala was organised by the Uganda Hockey Federation (UHF).

Uganda to host referees course

WOODBALL - World Woodball body IWBF will host an international referees’ course in Kampala on February 20- 21. Local federation secretary Godwin Ssenyondo said the course will be used to build capacity before Kampala hosts the world university championship next year.

No entry fees for Baroda Open
BADMINTON - The organisers of the Baroda Badminton Open have scrapped the registration fee for their annual tournament at Aga Khan High School December 19-20. The national badminton association chief executive officer Simon Mugabi yesterday said that the committee put into consideration the fact that sponsors Baroda Bank had approved a good budget that will cater mostly for everything. “The registration money has always been helping us to cater for some logistics but the sponsors have given us enough money to cater for everything,” said Mugabi.
