Fountain Publishers, one of the leading publishing companies in Uganda, has published books for the newly opened up markets in the East African region to target Burundi, Rwanda and Southern Sudan.

The company director, James Tumusiime, said at the end-of-year party at the Golf Course Hotel in Kampala recently that the company had expanded to capture the market in areas beyond the Ugandan borders.

“For the last 21 years, we have proved that the book publishing industry has a bright future not only in Uganda but also the entire East African region,” he said.

Tumusiime noted that Fountain Publishers had published over 1,000 book titles in local languages.

“We have published books in almost all Ugandan languages. We have also worked with the Government to develop and promote the thematic curriculum,” he explained.

At the same function, two outgoing employees, a book author, Sarah Kyankya, who has written 10 books and the publishing manager and editor for 16 years, Alex Bangirana, were commended for their contribution to the company.
