FOOD among the excitements of the festive season. As the new year sets in today, you might want to try a different dinning experience. Joseph Semutooke guides you on where you can find that dish you have only heard about this new years day.

Chinese, Japanese and Korean
Fang Fang Restaurant at Workers’ House has a variety of Chinese and Korean cuisines over the festive season. Its grand ambience gives an opportunity for a magnificent experience for the season celebrations.

Shangai Restaurant at Kampala Club in Nakasero is a high class that requires you to weigh whether your pockets are heavy enough before visiting it.
Nanjing Restaurant in Kololo is glamorous and a classy place.

It offers a variety of special season dishes while Green Tea Restaurant in Kololo, Golden Fish in Bugolobi and China Plate in Kisementi are other options.

Also try Beijing Restaurant in Muyenga, Miami Club and the Great Wall along Kampala Road.

For Korean cuisine, there is Arirang Restaurant, while for Japanese style, Kyoto Restaurants are spread all over town.

African Dishes
These are dishes we prepare in our homes. Those seeking to catch them look forward to avoid cooking at home or are looking for specialties like luwombo and amalewa.

Ekitoobero Restaurant in Nakasero has been preparing special local dishes over the Christmas-New Year season for many years, and it is ideal for families. A plate of food there costs sh30,000.

Kati Kati Restaurant on Lugogo By-pass is multi-cuisine, but their African buffet is recommended in town, while the Food Court at Garden City also has restaurants serving local cuisine.

Otherwise, the best local Ugandan dishes are provided by smaller suburban restaurants in areas like Ntinda, Najjanankumbi, Bugolobi and Kansanga with the bigger ones especially concentrating on exotic styles.

Indian
Haandi Restaurant on Kampala Road is perhaps popular for its chicken palak and masala.

Nawaab Restaurant at Garden City provides authentic Indian cuisine too while Khana Khazana in Bugolobi is as remarkable as Indian Summer on the Muyenga Tank Hill.

Pavement Tandoori in Kisementi is ideal for a romantic dinner, while Aminaz Garden Place on Acacia Avenue and Atithee on Akii Bua Road, Nakasero are worth visiting.

Pilao Rice
The Uhuru Restaurants remain the unrivalled service provider in this area. For those who need pilao, it is the place to visit.

They have no special new year packages and will be providing their services as usual to give you pleasure any day you visit.

Indian restaurants around town also provide a good alternative for pilao.
You can visit Haandi Restaurant and Nawaab Restaurant at Garden City among others.
