BUSOGA Kingdom officials have laid strategies that will turn it into the region’s educational hub, the Prime Minister (Katuukiro) Wasswa Balunywa has revealed.

Balunywa said in their grand plan to revamp the kingdom, emphasis would be put on improving the education sector by networking with different stakeholders to support existing institutions and opening up others.

He said they intend to emphasis vocational training while at least one science and technology institution will be opened in each of the seven districts of the kingdom.

“We intend to establish at least a resource centre/library with internet connection in each of the districts to encourage reading and research,” Balunywa said at the launch of Busoga Yaife (BY), a development association, at Sunset Hotel at the end of last month.

Flanked by education minister Florence Mutyabule, Balunywa said they would work with universities in the area.

Namasagali and Busoga universities are based here while Central Buganda University, Fairland and Makerere University Business School (MUBS) have branches in Jinja.
