THE leaders of Born-Again Christians on Saturday signed a declaration calling for an end to the violence in Kenya.
Addressing a gathering at Nakivubo Stadium in Kampala, Apostle Julius Oyet of Lifeline ministries said the Church had to intercede and pray for all people in desperate situations.
“Born-Again Christians are being led by the holy spirit to make the public stand before God and pray for Kenyans. We regret the deadly violence that came upon the nation and the people of Kenya as a result of the disputed December 27, 2007 elections.â€
“We stand with Kenya in prayer and support for the return of peace and economic recovery. We can no longer turn blind eyes and fold our hands on Kenya, therefore, we stand as good samaritans to nurse the wounds of the affected families,†he said.
Basing on Matthew 18:18, Born-Again leaders declared violence, murder, vandalism, tribalism, corruption, poverty, theft, insecurity and witchcraft and prostitution improper in any nation.
Deacon Charles Nyeko said it was time for Christians to act and live by example. “We have learnt from our past mistakes that we need to commit all the nations and people before God. What happened in Rwanda, Sudan and northern Uganda should have awakened us into serious prayer, but it is not too late. We need to act nowâ€
