COMBONI Samaritan, a charity organisation under the Gulu Catholic Archdiocese, has started a project to construct six schools at the sites that were abandoned due to the LRA insurgency in Gulu and Amuru districts.

The director, Florence Aol, said at the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of Goro P.7 School in Koch Goma sub-county, Amuru district, that the three-year project is funded by the International Refugee Trust in London, UK.

Aol said the project will construct seven classrooms, teachers’ houses to accommodate eight teachers with two rooms each, four stances of latrines each and also initiate an income-generating activity for each school.

“We used to sponsor vulnerable children to school but we have changed to building structures for the schools to provide conducive learning environment for the children,” she said.
