MUKWANO Industries has donated products worth sh12m to the Kenyan refugees in Malaba, Bukwa, Busia and Tororo border posts.

The items included posho, cooking oil, bowls, beans and washing soap.
Tony Gadhoke, the chief executive officer, handed over the items to the Kenyan acting High Commissioner Samuel Gitonga, at the Mukwano offices in Kampala on Tuesday.

He said the contribution was aimed at showing solidarity and responsibility in the community.

“It is indeed a pleasure of Mukwano to be able to come and make a positive contribution to our displaced brothers and sisters from Kenya. We are willing to give more support until the situation comes to normal,” Gadhoke said.

The crisis in Kenya erupted after President Mwai Kibaki’s contested re-election sparked violence, claiming over 600 lives and displacing more than 300,000 people. Experts fear that the crisis may worsen if no solution is got soon.
