PLE: best and worst schools in Kampala

Mivule Primary School in Luzira had the highest number of pupils who passed with distinctions in last year’s Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) in Kampala district. A total of 98.4% of its PLE candidates scored Division One.

Mivule was followed by Hormisdallen Mixed in Kamwokya suburb, which saw 95.6% of its candidates pass with Grade One, Green Hill Academy in Kibuli (91.9%) and Kampala Hill Academy (90.2).

Five other Kampala schools had over 80% of their candidates pass in Division One. They are Kampala Junior School Kitante (89.4%), Kabojja Junior Primary School (88.4%), Sir Apollo Kaggwa Nakasero (86.7%), Kampala Parents School (84.6%) and Lohana Academy (84.2%).

Of the top 20 schools in Kampala, all are private. The first UPE school on the list, Kibuli Demonstration School, emerges in position 33 and the second, Nakasero Primary School, in position 50.

Out of the 305 primary schools in Kampala district, 20 schools had no candidate in Division One at all; five government-aided and 15 private schools.

The UPE schools which had no distinctions were Summit View primary school, Kampala Primary school, Muslim Girls School, Uganda School for the Deaf and Lubiri Primary School.

The private ones were St. Francis Kazo-Bwaise, Parental Care preparatory, Kawempe Islamic seminary, Katwe Noor, Emen Memorial, Nanganda primary, Makindye Hill, Valley Mutungo, Kasubi Parents, Kitara Junior, Najjanankumbi, Kibuye Public, Mawanda Road, Jussam and Good Shepherd.
