I see you hanging out with different men; who is your Mr. Right?
I don’t have Mr. Right yet, but, I must insist, I am not searching. I am too young to be bothered by relationship issues. Some of the men you see me with are friends, relatives or fans. So, be patient.

How about the Kenyan man who expressed his crush on you in Saturday Vision last year?
I have never seen him. We were in Kenya before Christmas, but nobody approached me. It could have been an idler trying to massage his lust and it passed.

We? Who did you go with?
(Laughs) My manager. I sing and the manager arranges the schedules and bookings. So, we always move together.

Is the manager married?
No. But let us leave the manager out of this discussion. Am I not the focus?
You are always singing about love.
In real life there are two important things that disorganise us. Love comes first and money second. Love causes great wars, makes people kill and it is because of love that some people steal. Love affects everyone; people love to listen to what affects them.

Do you know there are many Ugandan men who lust after you?
I do. My phone is usually jammed; I can’t count them. Many pretend to be promoters, while others openly confess. But I always assure them that I am not in for love. Otherwise, I am not bothered; men are like that.

Fans say you have really changed; you are now dangerously attractive.
No! I am still the Mariam of 2006.

But your lifestyle has changed, hasn’t it?
Not much. I didn’t know how to drive or swim then. I am also forced to go to club these days although I don’t pay for entrance; they instead pay me for performances.
