FOR Francis Kasekende, it was payback time to the administration of Blessed Sacrament SS Kimaanya in Masaka district by performing extremely well.
Kasekende, who scored aggregate eight in eight subjects, studied on a bursary after his parents failed to raise the fees to maintain him in the school despite his brilliance.
He intends to become a medical doctor by studying physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics at Advanced Level.
“My teachers helped me a lot. I commend them for that. My first choice was this very school and I’ll come back here for HSC because I have realised that I can make it even without changing schools,†he said.
Kasekende’s colleague, Joseph Matovu, who also scored aggregate eight, had a hearing problem and the teachers thought this would deter him but he defied the odds.
“I had to always take front seats in class and consult the teachers after every lesson,†Matovu, who developed the problem in July last year, said.
The deputy headmaster, Steven Lukyamuzi, praised his two top students for hoisting the name of the school.
