JANE Suuto has always been the name to beat in the absence of the Arua Gazelle, Dorcus Inzikuru.
But the return of Catherine Webombesa and rushing to form of Grace Muzaaki, plus Prison’s Adero Nyakisi, all point to a great race at the MTN National Cross-Country Championships at Soroti Golf Course come Saturday.

Jane Suuto (Arua Club)
She has become one of the leading women long distance runners. Though not keen on training, when she concentrates, she is always good and cannot be easily beaten.
She beat the entire field, including Kenyans, to win the MTN Kampala International marathon.
Adero Nyakisi (Prisons)
This is the new name on the track. The 1500m runner was the surprise toast at the National Road Running Championships in Rukungiri when she won the event. She went on to win the 10km race in the MTN Kampala International marathon.

C. Webombesa (UPDF)
The former world youth gold medallist is trying to make a comeback. She was among the top performers last year, also managing to finish in the World Cross-Country Championships in Mombasa.

Grace Chesang (UPDF)
The “Ches” have always been linked to the high altitude of Kapchorwa, and they have always been top finishers in long distances. So when UPDF lines up another Chesang from the region, then she must be a force to reckon with.
