Court has ordered the arrest of Sembabule Woman MP, Anifa Bangirana Kawooya. The MP is facing charges of forgery and uttering a false document. Buganda Road Court magistrate Susan Kanyange yesterday issued the arrest warrant after Kawooya failed to attend court. The magistrate ordered the Police to arrest Kawooya by March 13, or any other day and take her to the court. She allegedly forged a diploma transcript to gain entry into Nkumba University. The charges were brought against Kawooya by her political rival Joy Kafura Kabatsi.

3 jailed over sh200m theft

The sales manager of Evertex Company Ltd was yesterday sentenced to four years imprisonment for stealing goods worth sh200m. Al- Haji Nuhu Kalyesubula’s co-accused, Chicago Kato and Ruth Barya, are to serve three years each in jail. Buganda Road Court heard that the three allegedly stole 1,246 bales of clothes, which they later sold without remitting the money to the company. Court presided over by magistrate Olive Kazaarwe Mukwaya, also heard that the convicts on several occasions went to Evertex's stores at Nateete, a city suburb, and stole bales of clothes.

Cabinet begins land seminars

The Cabinet sub-committee on the media begins sensitising the people on the Land (Amendment) Bill today, a member has said. The committee is scheduled to meet various leaders in Kiboga district to introduce the Bill to them and discuss it, defence state minister Ruth Nankabirwa said yesterday in Kampala.
