Apac district councilors have created three new subcounties and 17 parishes.
At a council meeting held recently at Scouts Hall, presided over by the district speaker, Dickens Olang, the council resolved that Okwerodot, with a population of 24,607, should secede from Alito.
The newly-formed sub-county, comprising the parishes of Okwerodot, Ayara and Adellogo had Obutu, Lwala, Lelakot and Araodyang created.
Nambieso subcounty has given birth to Ayabi with 15,662 people and five parishes. Punatar and Ogwil were the newly-formed parishes in the new subcounty.
The leaders also created Teboke sub-county from Chegere, with five parishes and a population of 14,566 people.
Agong and Ololango are the new parishes. Olang lauded sub-county authorities for teaming up with district leaders in creating new administrative areas.
