Leaders have paid glowing tribute to private schools in the district that have improved the standards of education.

Among these, was Daudi Mukiibi, a district councilor. He represented the district chairman, Ian Kyeyune, at the 5th graduation ceremony for St. Catherine Day and Boarding Primary School, Kawanda.

The school, located near Kawanda Trading Centre, was among the best performing schools in Wakiso.

Mukiibi said: “Your performance has been exemplary through the last five years. The district is appreciative of that,” he said. The school, owned by Lawrence Bomboka, was constructed five years ago.

The LC1 chairman, Samuel Mboozi, also praised the school. “Before this school was constructed, staff at Kawanda Research Station used to either drive, or send a bus to take their children to the city everyday. However, this is no longer happening,” he said.

He boasted that his village, Kawanda/Nakyesanja is now on the Ugandan map, because St. Catherine Kawanda is regularly mentioned in the media.
