MARGARET Tumusiime and Peter Bwire set new national archery records at the recent 7th FAA championships held in Degla sports centre in Egypt.

Tumusiime scored 767 points smashing the old record of 566 set in Sydney.
Bwire set a new record of 960, breaking the previous mark of 732 which was set by Saul Langol in South Africa.

New Africa archery boss Geno Omalla hailed the two archers for their brilliant display.

The two are also the leading performers in the country and are seeking to impose themselves on the international stage.
Omalla said that Uganda Archery Federation is showing the benefits from Olympic solidarity fund.

A British coach Daryl Radcliff recently conducted a training programme in the country seconded by the world archery body FITA and the IOC.
