UGANDA Breweries has invested sh1.5b in the National Senator Lager Cultural Extravaganza over the past three years.
The extravaganza brings regional cultural groups together to compete for a top sh6m cash prize and a trophy.
“Our diverse cultural norms have continued to be the backbone of our communities.
The Senator Lager brand is committed to continue supporting this country’s rich cultural heritage.
We look forward to investing even more resources to keep our cultures alive,†Brandon Ssemanda, the brand manager, said.
He pledged that the 2008 galas will be even much better.
Ssemanda was speaking at the prize-giving ceremony to the winners in Kampala recently.
The Jinja-based Lwanika Bukooli Cultural Group took the top prize, while Namukoozi Cultural Troupe from Luweero, won sh3m and a trophy as the second best group.
More than 10 cultural groups representing different regions participated in the galas.
A Uganda Breweries official disclosed that the annual event saw record sales for the Senator Lager brand hit over 1,500 cases.
