OVER 2,000 youth from Africa and the Arab world will converge at Speke Resort Munyonyo next week for a conference on peace and development.
During the Afro-Arab Youth Festival that will last nearly two weeks, several presidents, ministers and eminent personalities would address the youth on a wide range of issues.
The conference that aims at promoting cooperation among the youth from the Afro-Arab world, serves as a think-tank for African leaders in addition to being an avenue for mentoring young people.
The conference will be opened on March 12. President Yoweri Museveni will be the keynote speaker. Its theme is ‘Youth in partnership for peace and development.’
Other presidents expected include Libyan president Muammar Gaddafi, that of Sudan Omar el-Bashir, that of Syria and the Sultan of Brunei. The conference ends on March 17.
The Third Deputy Prime Minister, Kirunda Kivejinja, will discuss the progress and strategies for the establishment of the united states of Africa.
The First Lady, Janet Museveni, is expected to talk about the challenges of women empowerment.
