Planning is the key to success, use it

SUCCESS lies in being who we are and in the choices we are willing to make for ourselves, not in the fear of what you should do or be. Fear is the only thing that holds people back from achieving personal success.

In order to achieve what you want in life, you must first change your habits, lifestyle and attitude. Among the many habits of successful people in the world, planning is the hardest thing to do. However, it is also a key aspect in life that “if you fail to plan, you are planning to fail”.

Always plan before you start anything. Planning is not about ‘organised people’ as many of us brand them. It is about organising what you are going to do. When you plan, chances of achieving what you are doing is 90%. On the other hand, if you don’t plan, the chances of failing are 70%.

A practical example here is if you want to start selling shoes on Luwum Street, you don’t start by renting a shop, get on a plane and go to Dubai to buy the shoes. You should start by talking to people who are in the business you want to go into. Ask them about the customers, where they buy the shoes, the best location etc. If you feel you can handle, then go head and start the business.

A few things to note in planning - always put deadlines to your plans and constantly review them. Change them if necessary but don’t abandon them.
